Before Lighting
-
Trim the Wick: Wicks are self-trimming, but you may gently trim to ¼ inch before lighting to ensure an even, smoke-free burn.
-
Remove Packaging: Take off any labels, sleeves, or wrapping before use.
-
Choose a Safe Location: Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, vents, or flammable materials. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
During Burning
-
Allow a Full Melt Pool: Let the wax melt completely to the container’s edges on the first burn to prevent tunneling.
-
Limit Each Burn: Burn for no more than 3–4 hours at a time.
-
Stay Present: Never leave a burning candle unattended or fall asleep while it’s lit.
-
Avoid Drafts: Keep candles away from fans, open windows, and air conditioners to ensure an even, clean burn.
Extinguishing & Maintenance
-
Use a Snuffer or Dipper: Extinguish the flame using a snuffer to prevent soot and wax splatter. Avoid blowing out the flame.
-
Let It Cool: Allow the candle to cool completely before handling or relighting.
-
Keep the Wax Clean: Remove wick trimmings or debris from the melt pool to maintain a clean burn.
-
Know When to Stop: Discontinue use when only ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.
